TGIF! Happy Friday before a long weekend (well, not for me -- I don't get Columbus Day off, womp). After a delightful cold snap last week, we've had unseasonably warm weather in Boston the past couple days, and I am NOT HERE FOR IT. Bring me all the crisp air and sweater weather! Basic pinings aside, here's what I'm loving this week.
Reading: I honestly don't often read non-fiction outside of work, but I somehow started reading Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick a few days ago and have found it so, so funny. As a former a cappella singer and current a cappella enthusiast, I loved Kendrick in "Pitch Perfect" a few years ago and have periodically enjoyed sifting through her Twitter account (great, pithy jokes). For a lighter (aka, just light) read, I highly recommend this for the laughs.
Thinking: This is a chilling look inside Breitbart's well-oiled machine -- and how a handful of people manipulate the news of the alt-right. A must-read, even if disturbing.
Anticipating: After Kazuo Ishiguro was named Nobel Laureate this week, I think it's finally time to read The Remains of the Day. I've only read one Ishiguro book -- Never Let Me Go -- which I liked, but didn't love, and I think I should check out his most famous piece.
Making: I found this recipe for a delicious, nutty, apple-loaded apple cake a few years ago, and I've made it without fail as soon as the leaves start to turn. Even though the A/C was running in my apartment, I made it this week, and every single bite tastes like fall.
Playing: Are you shocked to learn that I have apple-picking on my mind? I'm ready to go!
What are you up to this week? Leave a comment and let me know!
