Happy first day of fall! Here's a little list of what I'm loving this week.

Reading: The Secret History by Donna Tartt. I read The Goldfinch a few years ago and didn't love it, so it took me a while to pick up Tartt's original (much-praised) novel. I like it much better than The Goldfinch, but some of the problems I had with that novel are present in this one, too. A little more than halfway through, I'm curious about where the story will go -- a climactic moment has happened much earlier than I expected. It's definitely holding my attention...

Thinking: As a big fan of Women Laughing Alone With Salad, I was heartened to read this piece on how the most-purchased stock photos of women have changed over the past decade.

Anticipating: I've been reading a lot about Manhattan Beach, a new novel by Jennifer Egan that comes out in October. I loved A Visit from the Goon Squad and can't wait to add this to my list.

Making: The (slightly) cooler weather we've been having has made me want to turn on my oven for the first time in months. This week I made these parmesan cheddar chive biscuits, which are so easy and so good! But now I have a whole lot of leftover buttermilk that I'm not sure what to do with before it expires...

Playing: I am utterly basic in that I absolutely LOVE fall, so I was beside-myself excited to see this live fall foliage map. Apparently this year will be one of the best for leaf-peeping, and I. am. READY.

What are you loving this week? Let me know in the comments!
